IHG Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Atlanta, has struck a groundbreaking deal with EnviroSpark to deploy electric vehicle chargers (EVCs) at all IHG-branded hotels throughout the United States and Canada. This strategic partnership underscores IHG's commitment to sustainability and meeting the evolving needs of its environmentally-conscious guests.
In a move aimed at enhancing guest experiences and promoting eco-friendly travel, IHG hotels will now have the opportunity to collaborate with EnviroSpark to install EVCs tailored to their specific requirements. With this initiative, IHG aims to bolster its existing network of over 1,100 hotels worldwide equipped with EVCs, aligning with the growing trend towards a low-carbon economy.
The integration of electric vehicle chargers at IHG-branded hotels across North America is poised to cater to the needs of travelers seeking convenient overnight charging solutions. IHG has further streamlined the process for guests by introducing an EV-charger search filter on its IHG One Rewards mobile app, complemented by intuitive mapping features for seamless navigation.
As the global momentum towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions gains traction, the adoption of electric vehicles continues to surge. According to projections by Goldman Sachs Research, EVs are projected to constitute approximately half of all new car sales worldwide by 2035, signaling a paradigm shift in the automotive industry.
Brian McGuinness, IHG Hotels & Resorts' senior vice president of global guest experience, emphasized the significance of enhancing EV-charging accessibility for guests. He stated, "Providing guests with more EV-charging convenience is a natural next step for IHG. Through our partnership with EnviroSpark, we're empowering IHG owners to embrace sustainable practices while catering to the needs of today's environmentally-conscious travelers."
EnviroSpark's founder and CEO, Aaron Luque, echoed McGuinness' sentiments, expressing pride in the collaboration's role in promoting eco-friendly travel options. Luque remarked, "Together with IHG Hotels & Resorts, we're committed to fostering a seamless and environmentally friendly experience for travelers. Our partnership signifies a shared dedication to advancing sustainability and accelerating the widespread adoption of electric vehicles."
In addition to deploying EVCs at IHG-branded hotels, the company is providing comprehensive support to hotel owners through an EV charging guide. This resource offers best practices to facilitate the seamless integration of EV chargers across IHG's extensive portfolio of more than 4,100 open hotels in the United States and Canada.
IHG's collaboration with EnviroSpark exemplifies its commitment to responsible business practices outlined in its Journey to Tomorrow plan. By leveraging partnerships like the one with EnviroSpark and its supplier diversity program EPIC, IHG aims to drive positive change for people, communities, and the planet while delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.
