IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is poised for another year of robust growth as it kicks off the annual HUNTER Hotel Investment Conference. Riding high on the success of 2023, which witnessed over 150 openings and 300 signings globally for its midscale brands, IHG is reinforcing its dominance in the midscale segment.
IHG's development momentum is fueled by a surge of interest among owners and guests in the midscale segment, projected to hit $18 billion by 2030 in the U.S. alone. Jolyon Bulley, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts - Americas, emphasizes the importance of guest and owner feedback in evolving their brands. With nearly 800 additional properties in the regional pipeline, IHG aims to expand its reach across new markets and cater to evolving traveler preferences.
IHG's midscale brands focus on delivering high-quality experiences at affordable prices, leveraging smart designs and clear brand identities. The iconic Holiday Inn brand, for instance, introduced a new premium breakfast program and unveiled the H5 prototype design near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Holiday Inn Express, IHG's largest global brand, continues to extend its footprint across 50 countries, with significant signings and openings in major U.S. cities like Dallas, Atlanta, and Phoenix. Meanwhile, avid hotels, positioned as IHG's emerging brand of scale, is set to triple its Americas estate with planned additions across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
Garner Hotels, with its approachable design and home-like amenities, is making waves with its U.S. debut and plans for global expansion. With initial openings in the U.S. and franchising opportunities in Mexico, Garner Hotels aims to have over 500 open U.S. hotels in the next decade.
Candlewood Suites, known for its unmatched comfort, witnessed 49 new signings in 2023, reinforcing its position as a top choice for travelers seeking extended stays. Atwell Suites, IHG's upper midscale all-studio suite brand, continues to capitalize on its momentum with new signings across the Americas.
