Wyndham Hotels and Resorts have marked their entry into the Indian hospitality scene with the inauguration of The Earth Amritsar, operating under the prestigious Trademark Collection by Wyndham brand. Partnering with Earth Suites and Resorts Private Limited, this heritage hotel boasts 57 keys, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Dimitris Manikis, the President for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in EMEA, lauded the rapid expansion of the Trademark Collection, labeling it as one of their fastest-growing brands globally.

With approximately 60 operational hotels and 40 more in the pipeline across South Asia, Wyndham sets ambitious targets to elevate its portfolio to 150 hotels by 2025, with a significant focus on the burgeoning Indian market.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Wyndham witnessed a prosperous year in 2023 in India. Reports indicated a 10% surge in occupancy rates and a remarkable 15% growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR). Additionally, the loyalty member base in India expanded by 10%.

Manikis identifies India as a pivotal source market for Wyndham over the next five years, citing the burgeoning middle class and the surge in outbound travel driven by economic prosperity as key factors bolstering his optimism.

With its focus on midscale and upscale properties, the Trademark Collection brand holds immense potential in the Indian hospitality landscape, catering to a diverse array of hoteliers.

Wyndham outlines plans to leverage India's infrastructure development, strategically situating its brands along highways and near airports. This mirrors the successful strategy implemented in Europe, where hotels are strategically positioned near electric vehicle charging stations and food plazas on highways.

With properties underway in spiritual tourism hotspots like Ayodhya, Varanasi, Katra, and Gorakhpur, Wyndham taps into the lucrative spiritual tourism market prevalent across the Indian subcontinent.

While boasting a global portfolio of 9,200 hotels, Wyndham acknowledges the need to address the variance in portfolio sizes compared to its Indian counterparts. To bridge this gap, the company is committed to rapid expansion by venturing into new markets and introducing innovative brands.

Wyndham's foray into India's hospitality sector with The Earth Amritsar signifies a significant milestone in its global expansion endeavors. With a strategic focus on growth and innovation, the company is poised to make substantial strides in one of the world's fastest-growing tourism markets.
